This is the most common question we get, and the answer is short: the mask goes on bare skin, everything else goes on afterwards. Here is why the order matters more than people expect.
Why nothing goes underneath
Light has to reach skin. A layer of serum, oil or moisturiser sits between the LEDs and your face, and whatever the light does, it now does to the product first. You also spend the session pressing silicone into a wet layer, which is uncomfortable and leaves the inside of the mask needing a proper clean.
Cleanse, pat dry, then put the mask on. That is the whole rule.
Why serums work better afterwards
Skin is warm and clean after a session, and you have ten minutes of doing nothing before you would have applied anything anyway. Going in the usual order — lightest to heaviest, serum then moisturiser — is the sensible finish.
One exception worth knowing: if you use retinoids or acids, keep them for nights you are not using the mask, at least while you find out how your skin reacts.
Where a scrubber fits
If you also use an ultrasonic scrubber, it comes before the mask, not after. The scrubber works on damp skin and lifts surface buildup; running it first means the light reaches skin rather than the day's residue. Dry your face after the scrubber, then put the mask on.
The full order, if you use everything: cleanse → scrubber → dry → LED mask → serum → moisturiser.
You do not need to do all of that in one evening. Most people alternate.
How long to wait afterwards
No waiting needed. Apply your products as soon as the session ends.
Cleaning the mask
Wipe the inside with a soft, slightly damp cloth after use and let it dry before storing. Silicone holds oils from skin, and a mask that is never wiped down stops being a clean thing to press against your face.
LED masks are cosmetic devices, not medical treatments. Any change is to the appearance of skin, and results differ from person to person. Not recommended for pregnant women, children, anyone with photosensitivity, or anyone with a thyroid condition.
