If you are looking at a home infrared sauna that is built for your room rather than bought off a shelf, SaunaCloud (paid link) is one of the brands you will run into. It is a small custom builder based in Diamond Springs, California, building since 2014 and reporting more than 3,000 installations. This guide covers what you actually get, what it costs, how long it takes, and who it suits best.
What SaunaCloud makes
SaunaCloud builds far-infrared saunas to your dimensions. Instead of choosing a fixed size, you send a short brief about your room and routine, and the team returns 3D renderings and a priced proposal, usually within 24–48 hours. Footprint and bench capacity follow your space rather than the model name.
- Atlas — the flagship: a modern look with vertical cedar slats and full-wall VantaWave heat behind them.
- Sierra — a classic window-pane design with visible cedar joinery and the same even heat.
- Atlas One — a personal, one-person version with red light built into the bench.
- Outdoor — planned for your site and climate; you provide a level, drainable base.
- Commercial — builds for gyms, hotels and studios.
The features that stand out
Low-EMF VantaWave heaters
SaunaCloud uses its own VantaWave far-infrared panels. For Atlas One it publishes an average of about 0.20 mG in its measured setup, compared with the 20–100+ mG it cites for generic carbon panels. Its own FAQ makes a fair point worth repeating: "low EMF" is an unregulated term, so ask any brand for third-party test results of the complete sauna, not just a single panel.
Red light built into the bench
Where configured, the bench includes LEDs at a nominal 660 nm (red) and 850 nm (near-infrared), positioned roughly 1–2 inches from the skin and controlled separately from the heat. It is included at no extra charge. One catch: the red light system is a complimentary extra and is not covered by the warranty. If red light is a priority for you, factor that in.
Solid wood, no fillers
The interior is clear, kiln-dried solid wood (cedar on the Atlas and Sierra designs), with no veneer, plywood or particle board in the finished interior.
Atlas One at a glance

| Interior | 38" W × 46" D × 80" H |

These are example dimensions; your approved drawing sets the final size. Electrical is specified per project. SaunaCloud's FAQ lists Atlas One on a 120V/20A dedicated circuit, while the product page shows an example 240V hardwired setup, so confirm the requirement for your build before you book an electrician.
What it costs
SaunaCloud does not publish a base price; you get a quote for your exact build. Its own guide gives these ranges for a custom indoor install:
- Sauna kit: about $5,000–$15,000+
- Contractor to assemble: about $500–$2,000
- Licensed electrician: about $200–$800
- Shipping: flat $999 per order
That puts a typical installed total at roughly $6,000–$17,000. For comparison, SaunaCloud cites $2,000–$5,000 for prefab units and around $1,500 for budget online models. Running costs are low: its estimate for a typical two-person unit used 30 minutes a day is about $3.60–$7.20 a month in electricity.
How long it takes
- Weeks 1–2: design brief, renderings and proposal.
- Weeks 3–10: the kit is built (production runs about 7–8 weeks).
- Weeks 10–12: delivery, then your contractor assembles it (1–3 days) and your electrician connects it.
SaunaCloud does not install. You hire your own contractor and electrician, and you supply the glass door and any windows to their specification.
Warranty and returns: read this before you order
- Heaters: 7 years. Power supply, controls, junction boxes: 3 years. Lights, speakers, accessories: 1 year.
- Not covered: wood, the complimentary red light system, labour and electrician fees, and replacement-part shipping.
- The "Limited Lifetime Warranty" defines a residential sauna's lifetime as 7 years from delivery.
- All sales are final. Because each unit is custom-built, there are no returns or cancellations once the order is placed. Inspect the delivery and note any damage on the bill of lading; you have 14 days to report it.
Who SaunaCloud is a good fit for
A good fit if you have a dedicated room or outdoor spot, want a sauna sized to it, care about low-EMF heaters with published numbers, and are happy to coordinate your own contractor and electrician.
Probably not for you if you want plug-and-play in a weekend, need a return window, or your budget is under about $5,000. A prefab cabin will be faster and cheaper, at the cost of fit and lifespan.
Next step
The design brief is free and you see renderings and pricing before committing, so the low-risk move is to request a proposal for your space and compare it with a prefab quote.
